Summary, etc The book “Recent Advances in Gyne-Endocrinology” highlights molecular, cellular and genetics of the endocrine system. Lot of advances are made in genetics, molecular, cellular and developmental biology in endocrinology. These advances help to understand the fundamental mechanism involved in endocrine function, dysfunction and disease of the hypothalamo-pituitary-ovarian-uterine axis. This book is divided into fourteen chapters. It explains the basics about neuroendocrine control of reproduction, ovulation, anovulation and related endocrinology. Etiology of puberty, physiology of puberty, hormonal changes of puberty, menstruation and fertility are discussed in a simple manner. It focuses on the various diseases like polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), delayed and precocious puberty, dysfunctional uterine bleeding (DUB), obesity. It can serve as a comprehensive reference for gyne-endocrinologists in their clinical practice. It also discusses about luteal phase defect, prevalence, pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment methods. Impact of thyroid in reproduction is discussed in detail. Etiology, physiological causes, clinical features, investigations, management, follow-up and complications for hyperprolactinemia, precocious puberty, delayed puberty, polycystic ovarian syndrome in adolescent girl, amenorrhea, dysfunctional uterine bleeding and luteinized unruptured follicle syndrome are explained. Different management techniques such as general treatment, mechanical management and medical management of hirsutism are discussed along with the suitable drugs.
